Treatment Methods At Sundance Physical Therapy, we offer a wide range of therapeutic services. Depending upon your physical condition, your program may include the following treatments to help you set and achieve your goals for pain free movement, increased flexibility and an improved quality of life. Hands-On Manual Therapy Techniques are specialized techniques developed by Physical Therapists. By using their hands in very precise ways on the affected areas of your body hands on therapy can help to lengthen tight muscles, return normal joint motion, relax muscles in spasm and restore your balance. Sundance Physical Therapy is a specialized outpatient physical therapy clinic. We offer integrated physiotherapy “hands-on” interventions to address chronic and acute orthopedic conditions. In addition, we provide biomechanical evaluations of posture and gait for the prevention of injuries (i.e. pediatric and adult). Posture and Body Mechanics Education will help you to learn and use safe body positioning and movements in your daily life. Standing straight and moving with confidence can aid your recovery and help you to avoid movements that are unbalanced and painful. Our associates at Sundance Physical Therapy have a strong background in neurology. We can help you to improve your function, gait and balance while preventing further injury through physical therapy interventions. Pilates and Exercise Activities are an important part of your program and are used to aid your long-term recovery. Sundance Physical Therapy provides the Pilates method of body conditioning that promotes physical harmony and balance for people of all ages. With exercise, you can train your muscles and joints to hold on to the changes that physical therapy makes. By strengthening your body and regaining flexibility, you can protect yourself from further injuries and health problems. Osteoporosis Prevention and Fall Stop Education will help you increase your quality of life by improving your confidence in movement. To help prevent injuries from falling we will address your balance/gait problems. We offer a specialized osteoporosis prevention and treatment program. Massage Therapy helps with the relief of injuries and certain chronic and acute conditions. Our licensed massage therapists provide both therapeutic and relaxation massages. Massage therapy also helps to alleviate the stresses of daily life while assisting in the maintenance of good health. Modalities (the use of heat, cold, electricity, etc.) are most often used on tight or weakened muscles in preparation for strength and flexibility exercises and treatments. Modalities help to relax your muscles, getting your blood moving, to help lessen your pain.
Orthotics are shoes or insoles designed to allow the muscles, tendons and bones of the feet and lower legs to function at their highest potential. Orthotics can decrease pain, not only in your foot, but also in other parts of the body such as the knee, hip and lower back. They can also increase stability in an unstable joint and improve overall quality of life. At Sundance Physical Therapy, we use the computerized Footmaxx system to analyze patient’s gait and balance. Footmaxx uses innovative technology that allows us to obtain an accurate measurement of your foot and ankle. We can then use the same system to fit you for your orthotics. Orthotics can be helpful to address many different problems including low back pain, knee pain, shin splints, hip problems, foot problems and ankle problems. They can also prevent sports injuries and improve your endurance, balance, and gait pattern. Diabetic orthotics and prescription orthotic sandals are also available. For further information, please see www.footmaxx.com. Ergonomics Education Ergonomics study human capabilities in relationship to work demands. Prolonged positioning at a desk or computer can lead to neck, upper and lower back pain, headaches and posture dysfunction. Having an ergonomically sound workstation can reduce pain and increase productivity. The clinicians at Sundance Physical Therapy can provide you with an ergonomic assessment and offer solutions to help improve your workstation, at home or in the office.
