What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is the identification and treatment of faulty movements, impaired flexibility and weakened or tight muscles that cause discomfort or pain and affect your daily life.

What are the First Steps of Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy begins with making your first appointment for an evaluation.

The physical therapist will do a thorough examination of your medical history, identifying injury patterns and problem areas.
You will want to dress so you can move around comfortably while the physical therapist performs a physical examination to spot incorrect movements of your body that may indicate the source of your pain, not just the symptoms.

Your physical therapist will help you to develop a personalized program to address and handle troubled areas restoring balance to your body.Through your physical therapy program, you may gain increased range of motion, greater strength and flexibility in your muscles, which can help you to find freedom from pain.

Tips on Your First PT Appointment Make sure to follow your doctor's advice.

Relax! Rest as much as possible before your appointments.
Drink lots of water to hydrate your muscles.
